"We're able to spread out, live anywhere in the country and still manage operations effectively," says Damm, who's a 1000-hour pilot but does not crew the aircraft. "It requires some airline commuting but one month our pilots may make 20 RONs and the next month very few. They may fly every day for nine days and then take the next seven days off. We're very self-sufficient -- we'll use the local FBO as though it's our home base, we carry all maintenance manuals aboard the aircraft and we hire contract pilots and contract maintenance when needed."

In advance of filming Travolta's still-unreleased movie Michael, shot in and around Austin, TX, earlier this year, Damm orchestrated the repositioning of the GII and the Learjet 24B to Austin Jet at AUS in support of Los Angeles shuttles, New York talk-show appearances and weekend getaways for the boss. The Tebuan, normally stationed at Rockland ME's 4500-ft strip close to Travolta's home, was relocated to a private 4000-ft lighted runway at a ranch outside Austin that Travolta had rented. Kadovitz worked out of the ranch for two months flying daily sorties with Travolta to various smaller airfields outside Austin on location work.

“There's real variety in this job,” says Kadovitz, who has 6000 of his 8000 hours TT in Gulfstreams and Lears. “We work out of interesting places, see all the movie sets and enjoy the variety of a Gulfstream, Lear and military trainer jet fleet.”
