In director John Cassevete's last movie, Travolta plays Joey, an edgy, hard-drinking, charmingly dangerous second husband to Maureen Quinn (Robin Wright), who had her first violent, alcoholic husband committed to a mental institution ten years earlier. Unfortunately, Eddie, played by Sean Penn, turns up on the family's doorstep, wanting to turn back the clock. Things get complicated when Maureen finds herself torn, missing the passion her old flame brought to their lives. Travolta's Joey, however, is the real puzzle: though loving enough to have provided for Maureen and her family, he is in no mood to humor a rival.
